Best Practices for Broiler Farming Using SureGro Feed
- Prepare the Broiler House
- Set up your poultry house before chick arrival, ensuring all equipment is clean and functional.
- Plan a vaccination programme to protect your broilers from disease.
- Feeding Strategy
- Use SureGro Broiler Starter in crumble form during days 0–15 for optimal early nutrition.
- Transition to SureGro Broiler Grower pellets from around day 16 to support sustained growth.
- Introduce SureGro Broiler Finisher pellets in the final phase to maximise broiler performance.
- If selling live broilers, switch to SureGro Broiler Maintenance to maintain weight until sale.
- Environmental Management
- Ensure heaters or brooders are working correctly and are at the proper height. Avoid placing feeders or drinkers directly under heat sources, as this can reduce water and feed intake.
- Carry out the first chick check 4–6 hours after placement to confirm that chicks are eating, drinking, and active. Adjust environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, ventilation) if they are not.
- Feeder & Drinker Setup
- Provide adequate drinkers and feeders: one bell drinker per ~100 birds or one nipple drinker per 12 birds.
- Use pan feeders (45 birds) or 40 cm tube feeders (up to 70 birds) to ensure all birds have access to feed.
- Temperature Control
- Record daily minimum and maximum temperature in the broiler house.
- At placement aim for a floor temperature floor temperature of ~30 °C.
- Carefully regulate house temperature during the first 14 days for optimal growth and feed conversion. Monitor chick activity and adjust temperature accordingly.
- Feed Availability & Nutrition
- Ensure birds always have access to feed: continuous access to broiler feed is essential for uniform growth.
- Download Epol’s broiler feed intake guidelines to monitor consumption per production phase.
- Select the correct feed from the SureGro range (Starter, Grower, Finisher, Maintenance) to suit your production goals.
