Best Practices for Broiler Farming Using Econogro Feed

1. Prepare the Broiler House

o Clean, disinfect, and pre-heat the broiler house before chick placement.
o Ensure all equipment is functional and place feed and water a day in advance so they reach room temperature.
o Plan and implement an appropriate vaccination programme.

2. Feeding Strategy

o Start with Econogro Broiler Starter from day-old to support optimal early development.
o Transition to Econogro Broiler Grower pellets to maintain consistent growth and feed efficiency.
o Introduce Econogro Broiler Finisher to maximise final weight and slaughter performance.
o Use Econogro Broiler Post Finisher to achieve ideal final weights in a cost-effective manner.

3. Environmental Management

o Ensure heaters or brooders are functioning correctly and positioned at the correct height.
o Avoid placing feeders or drinkers directly under heat sources, as this can reduce feed and water intake.
o Conduct the first chick check 4–6 hours after placement. Healthy chicks should be active, eating, and drinking.
o Adjust environmental conditions if chick activity or intake is below expectation.

4. Feeder & Drinker Setup

o Provide adequate drinkers and feeders: one bell drinker per ±100 birds or one nipple drinker per 12 birds.
o Use pan feeders (45 birds per feeder) or 40 cm tube feeders (up to 70 birds) to ensure equal feed access.

5. Temperature Control

  • Record daily minimum and maximum temperature in the broiler house.
  • At placement aim for a floor temperature floor temperature of ~30 °C.
  • Carefully regulate house temperature during the first 14 days for optimal growth and feed conversion. Monitor chick activity and adjust temperature accordingly.
  1. Feed Availability & Nutrition

o Ensure birds have continuous access to feed — broilers should never run out of feed.
o Download the Econogro Broiler brochure for recommended feed intake guidelines per production phase.
o Select the correct Econogro feed (Starter, Grower, Finisher, Post Finisher) based on your production goals.
