Best Practices for Broiler Farming Using HiGro Feed

1. Prepare the Broiler House

o Clean, disinfect, and pre-heat the broiler house thoroughly before chick placement.
o Place feed and water 24 hours before arrival to ensure they reach room temperature.
o Ensure all equipment is functional and implement an appropriate vaccination programme.

2. Feeding Strategy

o Begin with HiGro Broiler Pre-Starter to promote early vitality and organ development.
o Transition to HiGro Broiler Starter (crumble) to support early frame and muscle growth.
o Introduce HiGro Broiler Grower pellets to maximise efficient weight gain.
o Continue with HiGro Broiler Finisher to drive final growth performance.
o Use HiGro Broiler Post Finisher to optimise carcass quality and market readiness.

3. Environmental Management

o Ensure heaters, brooders, and temperature-regulating equipment are working correctly and positioned appropriately.
o Avoid placing feeders or drinkers directly beneath heat sources, as excessive heat can reduce feed and water intake.
o Conduct the first chick check 4–6 hours after placement to confirm chicks are active, feeding, and drinking.
o Adjust environmental conditions if chick behaviour indicates discomfort.

4. Feeder & Drinker Setup

o Provide sufficient feeders and drinkers throughout the broiler house:
– One bell drinker per ±100 birds
– One nipple drinker per 12 birds
– One pan feeder per 45 birds
– One 40 cm tube feeder for up to 70 birds

5. Temperature Control

  • Record daily minimum and maximum temperature in the broiler house.
  • At placement aim for a floor temperature floor temperature of ~30 °C.
  • Carefully regulate house temperature during the first 14 days for optimal growth and feed conversion. Monitor chick activity and adjust temperature accordingly.

6. Feed Availability & Nutrition

o Ensure birds have continuous access to high-quality broiler feed — birds should never run out of feed.
o Download the HiGro Broiler brochure for stage-specific intake guidelines from Pre-Starter through Post Finisher.
o Select the appropriate HiGro feed phase to match bird age and production goals.
