Epol offers a scientifically developed Broiler Breeder Range designed to support the specialised nutritional needs of modern broiler breeders in South Africa. Our breeder feeds are formulated to optimise body weight, reproductive performance, egg quality, fertility, and hatchability—helping both small-scale and commercial broiler breeding operations achieve maximum productivity and profitability.

Successful broiler breeding starts with proper preparation. Ensure your breeder house is ready ahead of placement, with a structured vaccination programme and a well-planned lighting and feeding schedule. Provide broiler breeder feed and clean water before birds arrive to ensure optimal, immediate intake.

Heating, ventilation, and brooders must be fully functional and placed correctly, ensuring that ideal temperatures are maintained. Avoid placing feeders or drinkers directly under heat sources, as this can discourage intake and negatively affect early development and future reproductive performance.

Once birds are placed, conduct the first flock assessment within 4–6 hours. Healthy breeder pullets should be active, eating, drinking, and evenly distributed. If they appear lethargic or inactive, assess environmental conditions such as floor temperature, ventilation, or lighting.

To support consistent feed intake and uniformity—critical in broiler breeder management—ensure sufficient equipment:

  • 1 bell drinker per 100 birds
  • 1 nipple drinker per 11 birds
  • 1 pan feeder per 52 birds
  • A 40 cm tube feeder for 70 birds

Temperature and environmental control are essential throughout rearing and production. Record minimum and maximum temperatures daily, keeping the floor at approximately 30°C at placement and adjusting carefully for the first 14 days to promote strong development and future laying performance.

Broiler breeders must be carefully fed, at all stages of development, to ensure optimal growth.  For detailed feeding stages and intake recommendations, download our Broiler Breeder Feeding Guide. Choose the correct product from the Epol Breeder Range to meet your farm’s goals.
